so what's new with you? a holiday edition.

Ho Ho Ho! Let's go!
Well hey that rhymed and also is what andiamo means! Look at that!

Our Thanksgiving break has come and gone and what a good one it was! I have been looking forward to having a week off from school (other than the week we were on a cruise, obv) since August! No bed times, no wake times, no lunches, it was heaven! I had grand intentions of stuffing every day with something wonderful and exciting for the kids. We went to Pizza Hut and used Letty's "Book It" coupon on the first day... We took the big kids to see Moana on the second day...I'm totally singing this song in my head on repeat! But basically after Thanksgiving Day the rest of our break was a whole lot of nothing. We stayed in all day long and watched many many Christmas movies. We made popcorn and had hot chocolate and cuddled up under blankets. So while not the busy exciting break of my dreams it was obviously a much needed stay home and "be" type of break. And it probably won't happen again until January.

Speaking of movies (not holiday related, but bear with me)! Steph and I went to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them a few weeks ago! Wow wow wow. Loved it. I cannot wait to see the sequels! Yes please all the Harry Potter world ever! And it worked out so great because Mark and Matt hung out back at the house with the kids watching football (I know) and everyone had a great day. So I'm keeping that in mind for all future installments with Mr. Scamander. And Queenie! So glad to hear that we will be seeing more of her. Following J.K. Rowling on Twitter gives me all the info. I soak it all up. But back to the holidays if you're looking for a Christmas movie and coming up short on ideas here are the Top 50 Christmas Movies. Many of which surprised me. Not your traditional list, for sure.

If you're looking to festive up your Instagram feed even further than it already is you could always follow christmas_interiors. Personally the more twinkle lights and Christmas trees in my feed the better.

This is the one time a year where I feel like I can get away with my crazy snowflake leggings. In public. Or at home. Or these ones here. Oh and socks like these! Yes! How about all fairisle all the time like with these? I'm not ashamed!

It's officially red nails season in this house. I have the perfect little concoction I've been rocking for years now. Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Cherry Red with a coat of Red Carpet on top. It's a thing. I can't even believe I typed out this paragraph but during the holiday season this is where it's at for me.

Did you see that Target now has a line of clothes for Elf on the Shelf? Claus Couture. I'm not even sure how I feel about that. Or how I feel about Elf on the Shelf anymore. Right now he's doing his thing, moving from place to place. But he hasn't gotten into any crazy antics yet like past years. Letty is the one who remembers to look for him each morning. I actually have to set a reminder on my phone each night after the kids go to bed to move him, lest I get caught. David asked me the first day why I moved him to the mantle... Soooo I had the kids watch this movie and that seemed to answer all his questions. For now.

So basically what's new with me isn't really anything other holiday festivities! What about you all?

Linking up with Kristen and Gretchen today! Thanks ladies for hosting!

What's New With You

  1. Book it coupons! Oh the memories! Steve and I started rewatching Harry Potter over thanksgiving weekend...anyway I would love to see Fantastic Beasts! Glad you could get some much needed down time with the family, even if it wasn't that exciting. I'm not sure I'll ever start Elf in the Shelf. Too much pressure. Setting an alarm Is smart! The things we do for our children, right? ;) I'm sure the kids will figure it out eventually, just like they will figure out Santa isn't real from some jerk in school. Lol

  2. I love that mug! And I'm all Christmas, all the time for the next 25 days. Nothing else matters!

  3. Sometimes you just need to hang out and relax on your time off. Being too busy just makes me want ANOTHER break. haha I never had Elf on the Shelf growing up. I didn't know what it was until a couple years or so ago, but I think my nieces and nephew have one at their place. They don't live near me though, so I'm not sure what antics it gets up too! hah

I LOVED Fantastic Beasts so much, so I'm glad you did too. I've seen it twice now. I saw it the second time with my parents and they really loved it too. I'm so glad there will be more of Queenie. I really did love her.

  6. Playing catch-up! I’ve been traveling and got behind. I love that Santa mug. So festive and cute. I can’t wait to check out that IG feed…sounds like something I’d totally love. I bought those Elf Pajamas! We went camping this past weekend (in a camper) for our Polar Express weekend. Mason’s elf always brings him new pajamas for the Polar Express Train ride and this year his elf had pajamas as well!

I love hearing from you. Honest I do. You won't find my response to you here, but in your inbox. F.Y.I.
