As is the case each year, the Olsens gather in the days prior to Thanksgiving to celebrate our own version of Thanksgiving. No splitting holidays, no two meals in one day, no stress. As per the usual, Matt's aunt and uncle came over bearing gifts like the wonderful Thanksgiving Santa's that they are. We were thankful that Matt's brother and family came over to us as well, as my sister-in-law has just experienced such a loss that words can't even begin to express. Sometimes getting your mind off things can be therapeutic I would imagine, and that's just what we did. I even got a smile from Syd Vicious herself! We sure are an overwhelming bunch to someone such as her. Dominic got his first pair of sneakers that actually fit his enormous hobbit feet, so thanks for the early birthday gift Aunt Holly and Uncle Steve!
It is always nice to catch up with Matt's aunt and uncle, as we haven't seen them since our beach weekend at the beginning of the summer. Between the busy time of year and the sick kids here and there it's been so long since we've seen anyone really that my kids were missing everyone. And it was pretty amazing when Glenn walked in the room and David belts out: "Whaaaaaaat?!" just like his Great Uncle Glenn. It's sort of uncanny.
All in all a good night, even with the addition of a broken bench. Ahem. Glenn. ;)
