Dominic, aged 8 months: Signature move right here. Many different tragedies can set this off. Being put down. When a cousin takes his empty, crinkled water bottle. When I leave the immediate vicinity. When crawling two feet to me is too far. You know. Any old thing.
David,
aged 3 years: "Is this how it goes mom? This a really great idea? Like this? This way mom? Mom? Super great idea? I did it! Mom?" And so on and so forth. You see he doesn't quite understand how to get the straps of his crocs around his heels so he folds them forward so the shoe is more like a clog. This is how he so easily kicked them off in Maine... Sometimes it's not worth the fight to get them on right, so long as they are on.
Letteria,
aged 5 years: She wants to chose her own clothes each morning. Sometimes I allow it. And most of the time I don't. But if we have nowhere to go and she asks particularly nicely I say yes. She never ever ever says the word "skirt" she refers to them as "tutus". Forever and ever and never alters. And this lovely pink and green ensemble was her tutu and shirt of choice on this lovely day.
